The Florida Coalition to End Homelessness (FCEH) members stand as one voice to improve policy and increase funding to prevent and end homelessness in the State of Florida.
Continuums of Care, on behalf of their member agencies, apply for homeless service funding to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the State of Florida Office on Homelessness.
To end homelessness in every area of the State, we have to break down silos, help each other where we can, and increase support through other systems of care. FCEH shares best practices, provides peer to peer support and technical assistance, and leads the advocacy efforts for homeless service providers in the State.
Florida is unique because the State of Florida legislature has provided funding for homeless services through the following programs:
Staffing Grant - Continuums of Care Lead Agencies utilize their staffing grant to fulfill their statutory requirements. Because of inflation, the cost of staffing and operations have grown. In the past 5 years, the staffing grant has increased by 74%.
Challenge Grant - The Challenge Grant provides the CoCs with flexibility to meet their local needs to address homelessness. In the past 5 years, the Challenge Grant has increased considerably. We continue to request that Challenge Grant is given full flexibility to address local needs.
